Description

Ethiopian Deep Blue Harrar Coffee gets a hip hip hurray from Café Excellence! This Ethiopian coffee is over the top with flavor. It's a very special Harrar with fruity aromatics of blueberry and a well-balanced sugary, sweet texture. It will leave you with a creamy finish that's slow to dissipate. We roast this coffee in a light to medium roast to bring out the fruity flavor making this oh so special. (This is not a flavored coffee!)

Roast (Agtron): (43/53)

OVERALL RATING: 90

Notes: Harrar is one of the world's oldest and most traditional coffees. As it has been for centuries, it is simply picked and spread in the sun to dry inside the fruit. This way of processing is commonly referred to as the "natural" or "dry" process. Café Excellence is a roaster/retailer located in Audubon, Pennsylvania owned by the Valerio family, whose history in coffee stretches back to 1958.

Blind assessment: Intense, complex aroma: wine-toned fruit, caramel, fresh-cut cedar, a hint of roses. Muted acidity; full, buttery mouthfeel. In the cup the caramel turns crisp and cocoa-like and the wine-toned fruit deepens and develops a savory edge. The cocoa note in particular carries into a rich finish.

Who should drink it: Rich, roundly fruit-toned cup should particularly please those who enjoy fine traditional dessert wines.

What can I say about this elixir? October 21, 2011

This must be the fabled nectar of the gods. Intense blueberry and currant notes, clean and bright yet still a little buttery with a very sweet aftertaste. The best Ethiopian I've come across in years.
